Biography
Kristy Wu (born October 11, 1982) is an American actress. She is known for her recurring role as Chao-Ahn in the cult hit TV series,
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and co-starring as Melissa Wu in Flight 29 Down. Other television credits include guest appearances on Joan
of Arcadia, Freaks and Geeks and Moesha. Her silver screen appearances include What's Cooking?, Drive Me Crazy and Cry Wolf.
Discovery Kids' publicity tells us that Kristy Wu is currently drawing rave critical reviews for her performance opposite Bai Ling in
the award-winning independent film, Face, written and directed by Bertha Bay Sa Pan. Recently, Wu co-starred in John Schultz' Drive
Me Crazy, and opposite Joan Chen in Gurinder Chadha's What’s Cooking? She made several noteworthy appearances as “Chao-Ahn” in the
final season of the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Her other television roles include guest spots on Freaks and Geeks and Joan
of Arcadia.
A Los Angeles native,Wu began her professional acting career at age 12, appearing in the South Coast Repertory staging of “One
Thousand Cranes.” Her performance led to an offer for a part in the original La Jolla Playhouse production of the innovative
musical “Faust,” by Randy Newman. Wu declined the offer in order to continue her high school studies, but was soon spotted and signed
by a talent manager. At that point, Wu began alternating her studies with her acting career, and she recently graduated from Stanford
University with a degree in English Literature. Also an accomplished artist, Wu recently had a showing in Los Angeles of her drawings
of female animated characters.
